Welcome to the personal website of Tim Irving
I am a highly successful IT professional with a prestigious record of achievement with major corporations.
Specialising in advanced internet architecture and web design using the latest .NET technologies, I am driven by the challenge
of creating new businesses. I have founded a number of software and internet companies in my career and have succeeded in many large scale
projects. A portfolio of some of my work for recent clients is included here.
From the heart...
Music is a major part of my life and I am an experienced lead guitarist having played in a number of Oxford-based rock bands.
My preferred material is largely in the rock/funk area, influenced by the usual suspects: Phil Hilborne, Vai, Zappa, Eric Johnson,
Paul Gilbert, Joe Bonamassa, Steely Dan and the like.
Over the years I have built up a set of original songs - some reasonable but most failing to
avoid the inevitable cliches and contrived rhymes...
Lyrics to some of the original material featured can be viewed here.
Full versions of some of my solo and band work are available as MP3 here.
From the head...
As well as music, I have a keen interest in philosophy - particularly how it relates to my other interests
in computer science, genetics and evolutionary theory. In 2002 I graduated with a Diploma in Philosophy from
Oxford University. I have delivered public talks on the philosophy of 'artificial intelligence' (AI) based upon
much of my early work in the pioneering days of 'logic programming' and 'expert systems'.
A collection of essays on many aspects of philosophy, from language through to ethics and the mind, is
available on this site.
