My Music

As well as recording my own material, I play occasional lead guitar for a couple of Oxford-based rock bands.
Starting from an early love of the blues, my musical misadventures have progressed through early embarrassments in rock
and heavy metal to arrive finally (?) in that fuzzy cross-over between rock, funk and jazz (hmmmm nice).
I also tolerate American roots music as long as you don't call it 'country'.
The download section includes a selection of full-length MP3 versions
of some of my own material and also covers of artists I admire.
My guitar style is an increasingly desperate attempt to sound like the usual suspects - SRV, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert and Eric Johnson.
While rediscovering the joys Frank Zappa, I have been introduced to the wonderful
work of Mike Keneally. Modern blues players such as Joe Bonamassa and Marcus Malone have re-opened the
melodic possibilities of the old blues framework. I have attempted to cover some of the work of these artists
in the tracks available on this website.
I have also included an outragiously self-indulgent gear page
describing the equipment I use in performing and recording. I have built up a reasonable collection of high
quality instruments (PRS, Music Man, Taylor etc.) and also equipped a digital studio.

Dedication
Finally, I would like to thank my wife Helen and family for their everlasting forbearance and
long-suffering of what I approximate to music over the years.
